Lost in the library: what to read next?

Updated: Jan 6, 2020

For young children (5-8)

You choose by Pippa Goodhart.

I think this is good even if it’s not an actual book I believe it builds character and imagination. It is also good fun and can give you an idea as to just what your child will grow up to be.

Imagine you could go anywhere, with anyone and do anything! Where would you live? Where would you sleep? Who would be your friends? Go on - you choose!

Rainbow Magic series by Daisy Meadows

The are a great collection and there are lots of them. They help the imagination and friendship is a key in every book. These books start with the first series which is rainbow magic: rainbow Fairies. When Rachel and Kirsty meet on the ferry to Rainspell Island they have no idea the incredible magical adventures in store for them! Join the two best friends as they meet Ruby the Red Fairy, the first fairy to introduce them to the world of Rainbow Magic.

The order for these goes like so:

Ruby the red fairy, Amber the orange fairy, Saffron the yellow fairy, Fern the green fairy, Sky the blue fairy, Izzy the indigo fairy, Heather the violet fairy. This is the first series they are a total of 26 series in this set.

Spy dog by Andrew Hope:

Lara, or GM451 as she is known by the government, is a highly trained special agent, bred by the British Secret Service for use on dangerous missions around the world. But her last mission went wrong and now she is being hunted down by an evil drugs baron, Mr Big. Lara must go undercover as a normal dog, 'choose' a family to look after her and await her retrieval by the Secret Service. But can she keep her true identity a secret? Can she thwart the plans of Mr Big? And can she bear to return to government service, after weeks of cosy domestic bliss? After an exciting struggle, Mr. Big is captured and Lara finds a way to stay with her family. But her spying days aren't over completely.

I think this was an enjoyable book.

As for authors I would recommend Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton.

Roald Dahl is a classic his story are fun and enjoyable and rememberable. My favorite Roald Dahl book is Matilda.

Enid Blyton is a timeless author I believe even now I have her books on my book shelf. My favorite books by Enid Blyton are the: The naughtiest girl in school series, and the Malory towers and these are the ones still on my shelf.
